Near Grodno, a lynx emerged from the forest and posed for people on a log VIDEO
Near Grodno, people spotted a wild lynx. The unusual encounter took place near the agro-town of Azyory, on the road between Novaya Ruda and Azyory, writes Newgrodno.by.

To see this animal, one didn't even have to go into the forest — the lynx itself came close to the road and sat on a large log right by the roadside. It behaved very calmly and relaxed, resembling a domestic cat resting after eating. Meanwhile, the predator carefully watched the people filming it.

The author of the video noted that it was good the lynx did not show aggression. Specialists, however, remind that these animals usually do not attack humans without reason. Danger can only arise if the animal is severely frightened or provoked. Therefore, when encountering a lynx, it's best not to approach closely and observe it from a distance.

The lynx is listed in the Red Book of Belarus, so harm caused to this animal is punishable by law. In recent years, the number of lynxes in the country has been gradually increasing. By the end of 2025, there were about two thousand individuals in Belarus, so encounters with these predators in the forests are becoming more frequent.
They were even designated as a limited hunting species, and hunting was opened last year. However, there aren't many eager hunters for these animals yet: the head of the Belarusian Society of Hunters and Fishermen, Ihar Shunievich, recently complained that the annual quota is nowhere near met: out of 57 planned animals, only 6 were killed.
