Another international federation lifted restrictions from Belarusians
The International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) has lifted all restrictions for Belarusian athletes and teams. The organization made this decision following a new recommendation from the International Olympic Committee.

From next week, Belarusian athletes will be able to participate in UIPM tournaments under the red-green flag, as well as with the state emblem and anthem of the country. Belarusian national teams will also gain the right to officially represent their state at international competitions.
Prior to this, following the IOC's decision in 2023, Belarusian athletes competed only in a neutral status — without state symbols.
The new rules will come into effect immediately and will apply to all UIPM tournaments, with the exception of the upcoming World Cup stage in Pazardzhik, Bulgaria. The first major competition where Belarusians will be able to compete without restrictions is the World Cup in Budapest in June 2026.
However, for Russian athletes, neutral status remains in effect for now.
Modern pentathlon has become another sport where international organizations are gradually restoring full participation for Belarusian athletes in international competitions. Previously, similar decisions were already made in aquatic sports, handball, and other disciplines.
