Before the talks, Putin and Fico spoke one-on-one, writes RBC.
"We are grateful to you for deciding to be with us today. I know that, like last time, there were certain difficulties with your arrival in Moscow. This time it was a little easier, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that you are here," the Russian leader addressed Fico.
Prior to this, Putin and Fico took part in the Victory Parade on Red Square, and then proceeded to a gala reception for heads of delegations of foreign states and honorary guests.
Fico arrived in Moscow the day before to participate in the Victory Day celebrations. On the same day, he laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
During his visit, Fico, according to the Slovak Foreign Ministry, intends to hand over a message from Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Putin.
Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, said after the gala reception in the Kremlin on May 9 that this had not yet happened. "Everyone was at the reception; there wasn't really an opportunity there," he explained.
