The incident occurred near the town of Beryozovka. Traffic police inspectors from Lida District Department of Internal Affairs signaled the Hyundai driver to stop, but he ignored the demand, and a chase ensued.

The man reportedly did not react to repeated demands from the police, maneuvered across the roadway, and created a danger for other road users. After a warning about the use of weapons, the inspector fired targeted shots at the car's wheels.
A 48-year-old local resident was behind the wheel. He was not authorized to drive due to health reasons. A medical examination showed that he had about one per mille of alcohol in his blood.
Six administrative reports were filed against the man. For driving a vehicle while intoxicated, he faces a fine of 200 basic units — 9,000 rubles.
The driver was placed in a temporary detention center, and the car was sent to a guarded parking lot.
