Eva Vezhnavets Prize Established
The book community announced the Eva Vezhnavets Prize (pseudonym of Sviatlana Kurs). «We are establishing it to honor the memory of Eva Vezhnavets and support Belarusian women writers,» — say the founders.
The prize will be awarded to a Belarusian woman writer. The jury will evaluate not a single book, but the author's entire creative work.
The formation of the prize fund will begin on August 9 at a book market at Karma Crew bar. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be directed to the prize fund. This is just the beginning — later we will open a separate fundraiser.
The entire prize fund will be received by the laureate. Its size will be publicly announced. The first award ceremony is planned by the end of 2026.
Founders of the prize: Sviatlana Alexievich, «Mediazona.Belarus», Association of Belarusian Publishers, Pflaumbaum Publishing House, Institute of Belarusian Book, independent Belarusian publishing houses, and Pradmova festival.
Writer Sviatlana Kurs (pseudonym — Eva Vezhnavets) died on July 20 at the age of 54 from the consequences of oncology.
