Body of well-known urologist Henadz Shchatko found in a lake near Polotsk
He was searched for five days.
«Today, during search operations by a maneuverable search group jointly with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a man born in 1978 was found in Lake Vyadzets in Polotsk district,» — reported the Belarusian Society for the Rescue on Waters in its Telegram channel.
This refers to the well-known Minsk urologist Henadz Shchatko, who on June 11 went spearfishing but did not return home.
Vyadzets is a popular and picturesque place for tent camps, water tourism, and spearfishing, located 45 kilometers from Polotsk. The reservoir itself is quite large and deep: the surface area of the water is about 4.61 square kilometers, the average depth is about 4.5 meters, and the maximum reaches 12.2 meters.
Around 5 AM on June 12, the man went spearfishing and disappeared. Searches for him had been underway since then.
