Only half of Belarusians return rested from vacation

According to a survey by rabota.by service, 56% of Belarusians believe they truly rest during their vacation. However, 43% of respondents admitted that even during this period they have to deal with work-related issues, writes Myfin.by.

42% of respondents can take a vacation at any convenient time by agreement with their manager. Another 37% adhere to a pre-approved schedule. For 16% of employees, even organizing a few days off is quite difficult.

Vacation helps young people recover better. Among respondents aged 14-25, 70% noted that they return rested from vacation. In the 26-45 age group, this figure is 49%, and among people aged 46 and over, it's only 41%.

However, not everyone can immediately switch from work to vacation. 52% of respondents feel free from work matters immediately after the end of their last working day. Another 27% need a day or two, and 18% need three to four days.

43% of respondents reported having to perform work tasks during their vacation. Most often, this is related to the specifics of their work – 33% of those who worked during vacation answered this way. Another 21% helped colleagues, and 18% stated that management forced them to work.

For 8%, performing a few tasks during vacation is not a problem – they like to do it at a more relaxed pace. 6% admitted they get bored on vacation, and 5% hadn't managed to finish all tasks before it started.

After returning to work, 48% of respondents experience difficulties with adaptation, while 52% transition to the work rhythm without significant problems.

Among the main reasons for difficult adaptation is the need to wake up early again, which 52% of respondents cited. 43% noted difficulties with quickly engaging in urgent matters, and 39% – a large number of accumulated emails, calls, and other tasks.

The survey was conducted in early August 2026. It involved 692 people aged 14 and over.
