He was 68 years old and had recently been battling a prolonged illness.
Jorge Messi was an ordinary steel factory worker; his ancestors came from the Italian town of Recanati, emigrating to Argentina in 1883.
Jorge Messi married Celia María Cuccittini, who was an ordinary cleaner. The couple had four children, among them Lionel.
