Bear family encountered in Myadel district
The bear family was photographed by Mikhail Adamovich, chief agronomist of the "Dzyagili" agricultural branch. The encounter took place near the village of Milty, writes narachanka.by.
Mikhail was in a company car.
“I was bringing lunch to the machine operators in the field,” the man recounts. “On the road, I saw a she-bear with two cubs. It's not to say they ran away quickly. They simply moved off the road. The cubs ran further, and the she-bear still watched from the grass.”
The cubs in the photo look very cute.
However, a real encounter with a family of brown predators can be very dangerous, says Alexander Yarashevich, head of the hunting department of the "Narachanski" national park.
“The most important thing: you must not run away from a bear, because its instinct to pursue might awaken. This animal is very powerful and runs fast. There's even a saying: you can't run away from a bear.”
Therefore, the best encounter with it is the one that didn't happen.
In the forest, you should make noise, call out to each other. Then the animal will know about your presence in advance and will keep its distance.
But if you behave quietly, you might accidentally encounter it, for example, in a raspberry bush.
If a bear notices a person, it is important to remain calm. If you see the bear first, quietly leave if it's not looking in your direction.
If the animal is close and has noticed you — do not run away, do not turn your back, do not look it in the eyes.
There is a recommendation to raise your hands — this way you will appear taller to it.
The bear might approach closer or stand on its hind legs to get a better look at you or sniff you.
These are not aggressive behaviors — do not panic, speak to it in a low, calm voice. In an extreme case, you must defend yourself by any means.
If contact could not be avoided, lie down on the ground motionless on your stomach or curled up in a ball. The animal will understand there is no danger and will leave.
If it attacks aggressively, use all possible means of defense, including pepper spray or other sprays.
