US President Donald Trump, during the G7 summit in France, called on Russia to conclude an agreement to end the war against Ukraine, reports Bloomberg. According to him, after the situation around Iran took a back seat, he intends to once again focus on finding ways to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

“Russia must make a deal,” Trump stated.

He noted that Russia has suffered enormous human losses, but continues hostilities and is losing its servicemen.

Trump admitted that he previously considered stopping the war in Ukraine a relatively simple task, but in practice, it turned out to be much more complex. He emphasized, however, that he would continue to make efforts to achieve a peace agreement.

During the summit, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Earlier, on his 80th birthday, he also held telephone conversations with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The leaders of the G7 countries discussed the need to increase pressure on Russia and further support Ukraine. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that allies remain united and believe that Ukraine is capable not only of defending itself but also of inflicting significant losses on Russian troops.

Trump also drew attention to the heavy human losses on both sides of the conflict, noting that the war is claiming thousands of lives and remains one of the largest wars in Europe since World War II.
