Among the possible targets, the German general named Kaliningrad Oblast, the Kola Peninsula, St. Petersburg, and the waters of the Black Sea, where the bases of Russia's Black Sea Fleet are located.

According to the general, NATO will defend every member state of the alliance without exception. He noted that a possible attack on Estonia would receive the same response as an attack on Great Britain, because within the bloc there is no division into more or less important security zones.

Neumann also stated that the German Air Force continues accelerated modernization and, according to him, is ready to carry out combat missions in the event of receiving an appropriate order.

The statements of the German general are perceived by observers as a reflection of Germany's tougher policy in defense and rearmament after the start of Russia's war against Ukraine. Germany's leadership declares its intention to strengthen its military and increase its capabilities within NATO.
