Ukrainian Man, Trying to Secretly Cross into Romania, Was Stopped at the Border by a Real Bear
An unusual incident occurred in Ukraine's Zakarpattia region: a man from Kyiv, who was trying to illegally cross the border into Romania, encountered a wild bear on his way.

The Ukrainian man independently planned his route to bypass official checkpoints and set off at night. However, during the border crossing, he unexpectedly encountered a predatory animal. To save himself, the man was forced to climb a tree and remained there for some time.
While up high, he tried to call for help, although communication problems added to his other misfortunes. As a result, border guards found him in that tree. By that time, the bear was no longer nearby.
Border guards helped the man safely descend from the tree and took him to their unit. An administrative report was filed against him for attempting to illegally cross the border. He now faces a fine or even a short-term arrest.
The border service emphasized that attempts to illegally cross the border are very dangerous and can threaten life and health. Crossing the border, they stated, should only be done legally.
