The Security Council of the Russian Federation issued a special statement on the consequences of Yerevan's rapprochement with the EU.

Should Armenia withdraw from the EAEU, its GDP will decrease by 15.1%, and inflation will rise by 14.3%, predict the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

Damage will be inflicted upon Armenian metallurgy, beverage production, tobacco products, and foodstuffs — the decline in these sectors will be up to a third, Russians have calculated.

And if Armenia doesn't understand, it will get worse. The cost of Armenia's accession to the EU will be approximately 23% of its GDP, according to the most modest estimates, TASS reports the predictions of the Russian Security Council.

Furthermore, potential accession to the EU and the introduction of a visa regime with the Russian Federation and Iran will reduce the influx of tourists and deal a blow to the country's economy.

The Russian Security Council stated that should Armenia withdraw from the EAEU, other countries of the union will not experience significant negative consequences — losses will amount to hundredths of a percentage point.
