José Mourinho will arrive in Madrid today and is expected to take charge of the club tomorrow, journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon reported.
Presidential elections for Real Madrid were held over the weekend, and the winner, Florentino Pérez, announced that Mourinho would become Real Madrid's new head coach as a result of his victory.
The Portuguese specialist coached the royal team from 2010 to 2013. His most recent places of work were Turkish "Fenerbahçe" and Portuguese "Benfica".
Mourinho won the Portuguese championship twice with "Porto", including one Champions League title, the English Premier League three times with "Chelsea", and the Italian championship twice with "Inter", including one Champions League title with the Italian club.
Last year, Real Madrid was coached first by Xabi Alonso, and then by Álvaro Arbeloa starting from January 2026.
The club finished 2nd in the Spanish championship and reached the 1/4 finals of the Champions League. The club last won the Spanish championship in the 2023/2024 season, also winning the Champions League that same season.
