Trump Deploys Aircraft Carrier Strike Group to Cuban Coast After Accusations Against Raul Castro
A U.S. Navy aircraft carrier strike group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, has entered the Caribbean Sea, reported U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) on the social network X.

Along with the aircraft carrier, the Carrier Air Wing 17 embarked on it, the destroyer USS Gridley, and the supply tanker USNS Patuxent arrived in the region.
The command emphasized that these forces embody "the pinnacle of combat readiness, unparalleled reach, and strategic advantage."
"The USS Nimitz has proven its combat power around the world, ensuring stability and defending democracy from the Taiwan Strait to the Persian Gulf," the statement reads.
The U.S. Southern Command's statement came immediately after the Donald Trump administration brought charges against former Cuban President and its unofficial leader, Raul Castro.
Specifically, the U.S. accuses the 94-year-old politician of conspiracy to murder four people, including three Americans.
This refers to a 1996 incident when four members of the "Brothers to the Rescue" organization flew a humanitarian mission to help people fleeing Cuba on rafts. Cuban fighter jets shot down two of the organization's civilian planes over international waters.
