The U.S. President is increasingly frustrated with how Iran is negotiating an end to the war and is now more seriously considering a resumption of large-scale hostilities than in recent weeks, CNN sources claim .

“Trump is losing patience over the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as what he perceives as a split in the Iranian leadership that is preventing significant concessions in nuclear talks,” the TV company's report states.
According to its sources, Iran’s latest response, which Trump earlier called “totally unacceptable,” has led several of his administration officials to doubt Tehran’s readiness to adopt a serious negotiating position. CNN sources claim that there are different camps within the White House recommending alternative courses of action.
“Some, including Pentagon officials, advocate a more aggressive approach to pressuring the Iranians to come to the negotiating table, including targeted strikes that would further weaken Tehran’s position. However, according to sources, others still insist on giving diplomacy a chance,” CNN reports.
Sources also said that many in Trump’s circle want Pakistani mediators to be much more direct in their contacts with the Iranians. They are unsure whether the mediators are sufficiently forceful in expressing Trump’s dissatisfaction with the state of negotiations. Pakistan often shares a more positive version of the Iranian position with the US than is accurate, two sources said.
On Monday, Trump met again with his national security team at the White House to discuss further options. Sources say that a major decision on further actions is unlikely to be made before the U.S. President’s visit to China, scheduled for May 13-15.
On April 7, the U.S. declared a truce in the war with Iran. On May 11, Trump stated that the truce “is on the verge of survival” after Tehran’s response to U.S. peace proposals. “I would call it the weakest proposal at this point, after reading the nonsense they sent us. I didn’t even read it to the end,” he said.
