The US President on Tuesday met at the White House in Washington with the heads of the largest companies engaged in artificial intelligence development, including Google, Anthropic, Meta, OpenAI, Nvidia, and Elon Musk's company xAI, which earlier this year merged with his other company — aerospace SpaceX. Following the meeting, an agreement was signed to strengthen control over AI development. Trump published the document on his social network Truth Social.
According to the agreements reached, each company will have to create its own "robust internal mechanisms" for monitoring the capabilities of its AI models and their compliance with safety standards during training and deployment in areas such as cybersecurity, biological, and chemical safety. Identified risks and problems must be eliminated.
IT companies are also expected to cooperate with independent auditors and regularly participate in joint meetings dedicated to developing standards and methods for enhancing the security of artificial intelligence systems.
Trump stated that the agreement has "moral force" and is not enforceable in court. However, the document states that "over time, it may become necessary to enshrine these measures in laws or regulations."
On September 19, the US President announced the imminent creation of special "artificial intelligence forces" — a structure that will deal with AI issues.
At the same time, Trump announced that he does not intend to hinder the development of this technology, the implementation of which he called the "next industrial revolution." The head of the White House emphasized that he wants the US to continue to outpace China in the field of AI.
