Recently, OpenAI released a new artificial intelligence model, GPT-6 Astra.

It can work with documents, program, create games, play them, and all of this is, of course, good — but the truly important question for humanity is: can it pass captchas? It turns out it can. And not badly, writes Telegram channel 43.

OpenAI employee Sharif Shamim suggested that the new model play the game "I'm not a robot", which simulates popular captcha variants. The AI successfully coped with all 48 levels.

In general, it has been known for several years that with the development of AI, traditional captcha, created to protect against bots in the late 90s, is losing its meaning.

In 2024, Andreas Pressner from the Zurich Institute of Technology developed an AI model that solved reCAPTCHA v2 in 100% of cases.

At the same time, Google, Cloudflare, and other companies are constantly creating new captcha variants — for example, reCAPTCHA v3, Friendly CAPTCHA, hCAPTCHA, and Turnstile — which check not only the result of solving the puzzle but also user behavior.
