A play with a Russian hussar as the main character will be staged at the Grodno Drama Theater

The Grodno Drama Theater will stage the play "Denis Davydov. A Story about Grodno". Denis Davydov is a Russian poet and hussar. In December 1812, as commander of a flying detachment, he occupied Grodno, from which Napoleon's troops had retreated, writes Hrodna.life.

The production has not yet appeared in the repertoire of the drama theater, but 12 costumes are currently being sewn for it. The price for them is not yet known.

Denis Davydov (1784—1839) was a Russian poet of the Alexandrian and Nikolaev eras, a representative of "hussar poetry," a memoirist, and a lieutenant general. One of the commanders of the partisan movement during the Patriotic War of 1812.

His memory is traditionally honored in Grodno — "Davydov Readings" are held every five years.
