Western wind gusts of up to 15-20 m/s are expected over most of the country, and in some places at night, up to 21-24 m/s. Heavy rains will pass through the northern half of Belarus at night. Unfavorable weather will affect all regions of the country and Minsk.

According to meteorological forecasts, the cause of such weather will be the stormy cyclone VILJA (Vilja), which is moving from the south of Great Britain. Having finally formed over the Baltic Sea, its center will move from Lithuania to the Vitebsk region at night.

During the day, the cyclone will move further into the European territory of Russia, and Belarus will be in its rear part. Therefore, after the main precipitation zone passes, strong westerly winds will persist, with possible short-term rains and thunderstorms. Especially powerful thunderstorm cells are not excluded in the north of the country.

Less precipitation is forecast for southern Belarus. Daytime air temperatures will range from +16 degrees Celsius in the north to +24 in the southeast. In Minsk, it will be around +18…+20 degrees Celsius.

Thus, on September 5, Belarusians should be especially careful outdoors due to strong winds, rains, and possible thunderstorms.
