US suspended processing of immigration visa applications worldwide

The administration of US President Donald Trump has suspended the processing of immigration visa applications worldwide, reports Financial Times.
The US State Department explained the pause by the need for "in-depth training" of consular staff. They are to be trained to identify applicants who, in the opinion of the American authorities, may become dependent on government benefits.
People who had already scheduled interviews at US embassies and consulates started receiving notifications about the postponement of their meetings. They were promised to be informed of new dates later. The State Department did not specify when the processing of applications would resume.
