59-year-old Ukrainian native Eduard Hurenka abandoned his family at an inappropriate time. Now his ex-wife has taken all the funeral payments for Dzianis for herself.

A court in Nizhny Novgorod deprived Belarusian resident Eduard Hurenka of the right to state payments for his deceased son Dzianis. The lawsuit was filed by Liubou Hurenka — his ex-wife and Dzianis's mother.
59-year-old Eduard Hurenka was born in Ukraine, lived in Russia for a long time, but eventually settled in Gomel. He runs a business and breeds dogs.
He abandoned his family a long time ago, did not participate in raising his son, and did not pay alimony. It was revealed in court that when Dzianis grew up, they sometimes corresponded on social networks, and once the son visited his father in Gomel. But the connection was not deemed serious enough to warrant paying tens of thousands in funeral benefits.
Eduard and Liubou sued for a substantial amount of money — for the death of their son in the war, Russia paid $123,000.
35-year-old Dzianis Hurenka died in September 2025.
