Syrian Court Sentences Bashar al-Assad to Death in Absentia
The former leader of Syria lives in Moscow.

A court in Syria sentenced the former president of the republic, Bashar al-Assad, to death, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
Assad was overthrown in December 2024, and he now lives in Moscow. According to The Guardian, Assad is studying Russian in Moscow and has resumed studying ophthalmology.
