Five climbers died on Elbrus

A group of seven citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina was ascending Elbrus when, at an altitude of over 5100 meters, several participants became ill.

According to channel 112, one of the climbers managed to descend independently for help, after which a night search and rescue operation began.

Minsk Emergency Situations Ministry employees rescued two participants of the ascent and handed them over to medics.

Another five climbers died. The bodies of two are located at an altitude of 5350 meters; their evacuation is currently impossible due to weather conditions.

Searches for the remaining three deceased are ongoing.
