The person holding this position oversees the work of all humanitarian structures of the NAS. These are the institutes of history, sociology, philosophy, economics, and others.

Vyachaslau Danilovich is a historian-pedagogue by specialty. He joined the NAS in 2006, following his supervisor from BSPU, Aliaksandr Kavalenya. It was Kavalenya who held the position of academician-secretary since 2009, but this year he turned 80, and he likely retired, passing the position to his protégé.

Danilovich managed to be the head of the Institute of History, rector of the Academy of Public Administration, and in 2024, he became a deputy of the House of Representatives. He is one of the main experts of state propaganda, regularly appearing in state media and on television.

In August 2020, Danilovich tried to discredit the white-red-white flag on television, claiming that it was the flag of collaborators (referring to the BPR), who allegedly did not even intend to create an independent state. These statements were immediately refuted by other historians.

Danilovich also praised Iosif Stalin, who was the initiator of mass repressions: "Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin played a great role in achieving victory, no matter how we feel about him. Because it's one thing when society is patriotically inclined, but it's very important when there is someone for this society to unite around. There is a leader - as we have in the Republic of Belarus," he said.
