The border with Poland was attempted to be illegally crossed only 235 times in six months
In the first half of 2026, Polish border guards recorded only 235 attempts of illegal border crossing from Belarus. For comparison, over the same period last year, more than 15.5 thousand such cases were registered, reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland stated that during this time there was not a single successful attempt of illegal border crossing, assessing the effectiveness of protection at 100%.
According to the ministry's data, the number of people who managed to illegally enter Poland also gradually decreased: about 12 thousand in 2023, approximately 5 thousand in 2024, and about 1.7 thousand in 2025.
The Polish Interior Ministry noted that these results were achieved thanks to large-scale investments in border protection. About 3 billion zlotys (about 790 million dollars) were allocated to strengthen the Polish-Belarusian border. The country's authorities believe that this has significantly increased the effectiveness of combating illegal migration.
The migration crisis on the border between Belarus and EU countries began in 2021. Western countries accuse official Minsk of organizing the flow of migrants with Russia's support; Belarusian authorities deny these accusations.
To enhance security, Poland built a 5.5-meter high fence along the border with Belarus, and also installed electronic surveillance systems along most of the border line.
