In summer heat, a car's interior quickly heats up, operating like a greenhouse. Even open windows do not solve the problem: without a running engine, the air conditioner does not cool the air inside.

Children and animals left in cars are at risk in such heat, writes "Minskaya Pravda". A child's body, for example, overheats 3-5 times faster than an adult's. For a pet, heatstroke can occur after just 5-10 minutes in a closed car.

Fine and Criminal Liability

Leaving a child under 7 years old alone in a car, parents violate traffic rules. A fine is provided for this.

If a child finds themselves in a life-threatening condition, and an adult does not provide assistance or does not report the need for such, criminal liability may arise under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

What to do if you see a child or animal locked in a car

If you witness a situation where a child or a pet is left in a locked car in the heat, do not pass by. You should immediately call 102 or 112, because a moment of carelessness can lead to tragedy.
