A meeting dedicated to the decree "On State Support for Sports Clubs" was held at the National Olympic Committee. Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Pyatkevich noted in her speech: if a specific sport does not yield results, in the future it will be financed at the level of children's and youth sports schools (DYSS), writes Onliner.by.

"I think we still need to approach, however difficult it may be, the topic of revising national teams. We have a situation with a not very large number of national teams where we consistently do not show and cannot show results. We sincerely accept and acknowledge this. The indicator should be one: is there a change or is there no change.

If there are no results and absolutely no hope that they ever will be, and there is no change coming, then this sport will be financed at most at the level of children's and youth sports schools. Everything related to high-performance sports - this topic needs to be concluded, and these funds redistributed to those sports that can show results. 30th, 35th, 40th place - maybe it's good, but if it's constant and without any hope…

The country is compact, we cannot cover all sports, and perhaps we should stop engaging in this humanitarian activity. I am not ready to say who this will affect, but I am saying right away that we will discuss this issue," said Natalia Pyatkevich.

She also emphasized that issues of providing state support and continuing scholarships will be reviewed taking into account how well recipients fulfill their obligations.

— Based on places, on won medals, where they will be planned, on relevant performance results. Because big obligations are taken on, something is promised, but then, as in a joke: sorry, couldn't do it.

Therefore, we must be honest with each other at the start, take on obligations that we can realistically fulfill, and bear responsibility for them, including financial responsibility for the amount of state support provided, scholarships issued, and so on, — said Natalia Pyatkevich.
