Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is ready to resume peace talks with Ukraine from where they were stopped, Radio Svoboda's Ukrainian Service reports.

"We are ready to talk to Kyiv, as we have always done," Lavrov said.

He noted that the parameters of a political and diplomatic settlement were discussed and agreed upon in Alaska almost a year ago.

Lavrov's statement came amid restrictions on gasoline sales in Russia. This was preceded by Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries.

The last peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, mediated by the United States, took place in February. Due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, trilateral talks were postponed indefinitely.

Donald Trump recently stated that ending the US conflict with Iran would allow Washington to focus on resolving the Russian-Ukrainian war. Trump also stated that Russia should conclude an agreement with Ukraine after a "very good" meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit, which sparked cautious optimism among G7 leaders regarding the possibility of a peace agreement.

Meanwhile, the Kremlin stated that recent Ukrainian strikes on Russia "do not bring closer personal contacts" between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
