Belarus is being tried to be drawn into the Ukrainian conflict, thereby complicating the possibilities of its political and diplomatic settlement. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the statement by European Commission representative Anita Hipper, who supported Ukraine's right to defend itself, including by attacking Russian relay stations in Belarus.

“This German lady directly supported the threats that Zelensky made yesterday against a sovereign state, promising to use force if that dictator so desires. Therefore, I believe this cynical attempt should be condemned. It is clearly aimed at drawing Belarus directly into the conflict by political and diplomatic means,” Lavrov said during an ambassadorial round table on the situation around Ukraine.

Lavrov recalled that since March 2025, a treaty between the Russian Federation and Belarus on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State has been in effect.

“And if necessary, we are ready to take the entire complex of measures provided for by the treaty to guarantee the security of our ally and, of course, the security of the Union State,” stated the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
