Volfovich on drone attack on bus with children in Bryansk region: The goal was to pit Belarus against Ukraine
State Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich named the goal of the attack on a bus with Belarusian children and added that Belarus "will not be drawn into the conflict".
All witnesses have been questioned in the case of the drone strike on a bus with Belarusian children in the Bryansk region. State Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich stated this to journalists after the leadership of law enforcement agencies laid flowers on Victory Square in Minsk, dedicated to the Day of National Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War.
Alexander Volfovich recalled that last week in the Bryansk region, a UAV strike occurred on a bus with children from Belarus.
«It doesn't matter whose bus it is — Belarusian, Russian, or of some other state. This is a bus with peaceful civilians. But whoever carried out this strike tried to create a pretext to pit Belarus against Ukraine, to provoke some bad situation,» the state secretary stated.
He pointed out that Lukashenka keeps the situation «under the strictest control» and gave relevant instructions.
«Our special services, the Investigative Committee, are conducting the most thorough investigation. All facts will be analyzed. All witnesses and those who were on the bus have already been questioned.
There are already certain, shall we say, points that will be reported to the head of state. A decision will be made. But it will not be possible to draw Belarus into the conflict. We are for peace, prudence, for resolving all issues through diplomatic means,» Alexander Volfovich emphasized.
Last week, Lukashenka stated that the drone was of Ukrainian origin, but instructed the Security Council to conduct its own independent investigation and «get to the bottom of the truth,» as many conflicting versions surround the incident. Kyiv declared the attack a Russian provocation and denied involvement in the incident.
In state media and channels of Belarus, after the bus incident, a campaign of incitement to hatred against Ukraine and the West was launched. Statements from the Ukrainian side were not provided.
