Inflation in May dropped below 5 percent

Annual inflation (over the last 12 months) in Belarus in May 2026 was 4.8%. In April and March, it was 5.4%, according to Belstat.

At the same time, prices rose by 0.1% in May, and by 2.6% since the beginning of the year.

In May of this year, compared to the same period last year, food prices increased by 4.9%. Compared to April 2026, they decreased by 0.2%, and compared to December 2025, they increased by 1.5%.

Non-food items in May became 2% more expensive compared to May 2025, 0.1% more expensive compared to April, and 1.4% more expensive compared to December 2025.

Most significantly, service prices increased in May of this year. Compared to the same period last year, they became 8.5% more expensive, 0.4% more expensive compared to April, and 5.9% more expensive compared to December 2025.
