Valery Sakhashchyk and his brother are successfully mastering a new niche for themselves: in just one year, they turned losses in their new development business into profits, writes economist Vadim Syakhovich.

The Żyrardów company Chicago Urban Development (CUD) earned over half a million euros (equivalent) in net profit by the end of 2025. This is an asset of brothers Valery and Oleg Sakhashchyk, within which, since 2024, they have been mastering a new niche for themselves: investments in residential real estate.

According to Syakhovich, last year CUD's revenue almost doubled — from 2.7 million in 2024 to 5.3 million euros. And after a loss of 250 thousand euros in its first year of operation, the business brought the brothers their first profit — over 515 thousand euros.

They received this from two properties currently included in CUD's portfolio. These are the residential complexes Osiedle Raclawicka in Mszczonów and Zakątek Chmielna in Żyrardów, where the family business's headquarters are located. Both cities are situated near Warsaw.

20 houses on the territory of Osiedle Raclawicka were built by the family construction company Sahaty in 2024-2025. Judging by the data from the developer's website, only three apartments (from 31 to 38 sq.m) out of 40 are currently unsold.

The sale of apartments in Zakątek Chmielna is also ongoing. This is a larger-scale project, within which 60 residential units will be built in 15 houses. Apartments ranging from 65 to 100 sq.m are offered on the CUD website from 138 thousand to 186 thousand euros at the current exchange rate.

Valery Sakhashchyk commanded Brest paratroopers. Already retired, in 2020 he supported the people during the protests. And when Russia attacked Ukraine, he sharply condemned Putin. For two years he was in Tsikhanouskaya's office, then he went back to business for good.
