Its length will be 381 meters.

The scale of work on both sides of the railway is impressive: there is a lot of equipment and building materials on the site. At the end of Kalesnikava Street, where the temporary town is located, the volumes of completed work are already significantly larger. Engineering communications are being relocated from Timiryazeva Street, write Minsk-News.

— In the recent history of Minsk, there have been many capital-repaired and reconstructed artificial structures, but this is the first time we are building such a large overpass from scratch, — noted Siarhei Rubchenia, director of the general contractor, MBU No. 2 "Mostobud". — Its length will be 381 meters. It will include 12 spans, on which 224 beams will be mounted: 201 of them 33 meters long (11 spans), one span — 18 meters. The beams are supplied on time by the Reinforced Concrete Bridge Structures Plant "Darbuddustriya" from Fanipol.

The overpass will have three lanes of traffic in each direction. Its width will vary from approximately 38 meters at the beginning to 44 meters on the access ramps.

The coordination headquarters at the site meets weekly with the participation of the client and all relevant organizations. The standard construction period is 36 months, but the general contractor and subcontractors plan to reduce it if possible.

The new overpass will provide a direct connection between Kamiennaja Horka and Liebiadzinaja, and will also significantly reduce the detour via the Minsk Ring Road (MKAD). In addition, the direct transport link will significantly relieve neighboring interchanges in the Zhdanovichy area.

— The construction of the overpass began in March with the preparatory stage: organizing the construction site, creating access roads, pedestrian connections, setting up a temporary town, and delivering materials, — said Raman Zalutski, head of site MBU No. 2. — Currently, about 60 specialists from our department and colleagues from MBU No. 6 are involved on the site, working in shifts, around the clock, seven days a week. Including subcontractors, more than 30 units of equipment are engaged.

According to Raman Zalutski, the Zhdanovichy giant does not pose any particular difficulties for him. A graduate of BNTU with a specialty in "bridges and tunnels", he has been working at MBU No. 2 for 13 years and has more than 20 bridges and overpasses in his track record.

— Everything is simple and clear here. The main technological complexity at this site is only one span over the railway, — specified the head of site MBU No. 2.

— For comparison: last year's reconstruction of the overpass in the area of Tolstoy and Babruiskaya streets, completed in nine months instead of the planned 24, was much more complex. Firstly, due to the infrastructure it crossed: several railway lines, the metro running underneath it, a tram ring, trolleybus and bus lines. And secondly, due to the central 162-meter steel section weighing 750 tons, which, incidentally, allowed the estimated service life of the structure to be extended to 100 years.

Third Ring

— Here we need to take into account a large number of communications that intersect at different levels and pass through the territory of the Zhdanovichy shopping center, — noted Raman Zalutski. — These include a gas pipeline, domestic wastewater drainage, communication networks, electrical cables, a heating main, a water supply system, and others. Moreover, all of them are not removed outside the construction area, but are relocated to the inter-support space of the overpass.

The construction of the overpass supports — there will be 13 of them — is being carried out in stages, as engineering networks are relocated. Each support uses 12 to 14 piles. As soon as a new work front is cleared of communications, bridge builders immediately move in.

To date, three supports have been erected, and two more are under construction; simultaneously, bored piles are being arranged for two more supports. Work has also begun on the construction of retaining walls.

On the first three spans, the installation of reinforced concrete beams, each 33 meters long and weighing more than 60 tons, has already been completed.

According to Zalutski, no problems are expected when crossing the railway tracks: the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railway always cooperates and provides the necessary "windows" for work.

The overpass is one of two stages of large-scale construction in this area. Simultaneously, the reconstruction of Kalesnikava Street and Masukoŭščyna Lane is underway, where a new street with the working name Prajektavanaja (Designed) will appear.

In the second stage, the work will also affect Timiryazeva Street with the necessary road and traffic light infrastructure.

Collectively, these stages mark the beginning of the construction of the third transport ring, which in the future will connect other districts of Minsk with each other.
