"Tell them that's not how we park here." Social media outraged by "G-Wagen" parking with "fancy" license plates
The act of a "G-Wagen" SUV driver, who parked in Minsk directly on the sidewalk near the entrance of "Akademkniga" bookstore by the "Akademiya Nauk" metro station, caused a stir on social media.
"Dear Kazakhs, who are guests in Minsk, please tell them that's not how we park here," wrote a Threads user with the nickname glitchofthegalaxy, captioning her photo. The picture shows a "G-Wagen" with distinctive Kazakh license plates, parked directly on the pavement.
Minsk residents note that they have never seen anything like it, and that it's impossible to accidentally drive there: the driver had to deliberately turn off the roadway and cross the sidewalk directly over a pedestrian crossing.
According to eyewitnesses, a woman was driving the luxury SUV, and after a brief stop, continued to drive further along the pedestrian zone.
The post garnered a lot of indignation. But there was also a little room for irony.
Commenters joked that the driver could be forgiven because she came to buy books. "They came to buy the book 'Rules for Staying in Minsk'," someone joked. Some suggested that she was a librarian on an experience exchange program.
