Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated that the drone, which hit a residential building in the city of Galați last night, could have changed its trajectory after being affected by Ukrainian air defense. According to him, when the drones flew over the territory of Ukraine, some of them were shot down, and one was likely damaged and subsequently flew towards Romania.

Nicușor Dan noted that the drone was struck kinetically, meaning by physical impact, and did not simply change course accidentally. However, the Romanian president emphasized that Russia still bears responsibility for the incident, as it was the one carrying out the attack.

As a result of the strike on a multi-story building in Galați, two people were injured. According to preliminary data, the drone used at least 30 kilograms of explosives.

Romanian specialists continue the investigation, examining fragments of the drone and other evidence from the scene.

After the incident, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with the Romanian leader, expressed support, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. He also stated that Ukraine is ready to cooperate with Romania on security issues and defense against threats.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that there is insufficient evidence of Russia's involvement in the incident and proposed conducting an additional examination. He also suggested that the drone could have been Ukrainian and offered to transfer its fragments for investigation to Russia.

At the same time, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, former president Dmitry Medvedev called EU countries "participants in the war" against Russia and promised that similar incidents on European territory would continue.

It was previously reported that the drone that fell in Romania was of the 'Geran-2' type and was launched from Russian territory during an attack on Ukraine.
