"Krasnaselski Maldives" Granted Nature Monument Status
It is now an official tourist attraction with a memorable name.
Chalk quarries near Vawkavysk, known for their turquoise water, have been officially recognized as a geological nature monument of local significance. The decision by the Vawkavysk District Executive Committee, which came into force on May 12, 2026, transforms the popular location into a protected area with defined boundaries and visiting rules.
The new site has received the official name "Krasnaselski Maldives". Its area is 356 hectares.
The management of the zone is entrusted to the local tourist information center jointly with the enterprise "Krasnaselskbudmateryaly".
Granting the status of a nature monument will allow the development of this unique place as a full-fledged excursion point with appropriate infrastructure and funding.
Safety rules remain strict. Swimming in the reservoirs is still prohibited due to the enormous depth, reaching 50 meters, and the instability of the chalk banks, which are prone to sudden collapses.
