Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday evening that the White House is optimistic about the possibility of a diplomatic resolution to the conflict with Iran, writes BBC.

“They want to make a deal,” he told reporters in the Oval Office. “We’ve had very good talks over the last 24 hours, and it’s quite possible we’ll reach an agreement.”

Notably, Trump — not for the first time — stated that Iran had supposedly agreed never to possess nuclear weapons “along with other conditions.”

However, the Iranian side does not confirm this.

The US President also made it clear that the 30-day deadline for reaching an agreement, about which American media wrote, could be flexible. Answering journalists on his way out, he said that “no deadlines exist.”

At the same time, the administration still reveals virtually no details of the negotiations, although Trump and other officials regularly claim that they are proceeding successfully.

And although the White House continues to hint that a forceful resolution to the problem is not ruled out, publicly they still express confidence that it will not come to that.
