When the guy wanted to sneeze, he covered his nose with his fingers to do it silently. Afterwards, he heard a crunch in his throat, and soon swelling appeared in his neck. When pressed, the neck felt like "bubble wrap," which usually indicates the presence of air under the skin.

As a result of the examination, the guy was diagnosed with a fracture of the cartilage of the larynx and emphysema. Doctors explained that due to the rupture of the connection between the laryngeal cartilages and the tracheal rings, air from the lungs had entered the tissues of the neck.

The patient spent about a week in the hospital, after which he was prescribed hormonal therapy and antibiotics. The guy was also forbidden to cough and sneeze during the treatment period.

Medical professionals warn that trying to "hold in" a sneeze by pinching your nose or mouth is dangerous. This can lead to injuries to the nose, ears, blood vessels of the eyes, as well as headaches. It is recommended to sneeze freely, preferably into the crook of your elbow.
