At the end of last month, Tatsiana, a resident of one of the villages in Karelichy District, drew attention to problems with the local «Rodny Kut» chain store, which served several settlements. According to the woman, people could lose a convenient point of sale for products – there was a threat of the store closing.
The store operated in the village of Yaremichy and served the surrounding villages of Karelichy District: Malyya Zhukhavichy, Novaye Syalo, Paharelka, Vyalikaya Arbina, Malaya Arbina, Daughinava, and Sinyawskaya Slabada.
Later, an employee left the store – according to Tatsiana, she could not handle the heavy workload.
The woman performed several functions at once: from stoker to loader and saleswoman. As a result, she left, and the store temporarily closed.
On TikTok, Tatsiana accused the chain's management of indifference towards employees and rural residents. According to her, such a policy led to the closure of the only chain store that served several villages.
What happened after the video was published
Local authorities and store management reacted fairly quickly to the resident's complaints. The video on social networks attracted the attention of officials, and the story resonated in the local media.
However, resolving the issue was delayed. After the TikTok publications, a meeting was held in the village with the participation of local officials and representatives of the consumer cooperation system.
The head of the rural council, a representative of the economy department of the Karelichy District Executive Committee, employees of RAYPO (District Consumer Society), including the head of Belkoopsoyuz (Belarusian Consumer Cooperatives Union) and a representative of the trade department, attended the meeting. The meeting was convened to discuss the situation with the store's closure and possible ways to resolve it.
During the meeting, Tatsiana raised questions about expired products, the workload of sales assistants, and working conditions in the store. She specifically drew attention to the cash registers, which, according to her, 'glitched'. However, the woman did not receive clear answers to her questions at that time.
Separately, the topic of mobile stores was discussed, which the management named as one of the solutions to the problem. Tatsiana disagreed with this approach. She noted that mobile stores cannot replace a stationary store, as their assortment shrinks from point to point.
Was the problem resolved?
Later, after further publications on TikTok, the situation was eventually resolved, and the story had a positive ending.
Store employees were promised that technical problems would be resolved – including with an incorrectly installed air conditioner that blew warm air into the ceiling.
The author of the story also described her personal visit to the store. For 32 rubles, she bought flour, sugar, and butter on sale, as well as zephyr, homemade cinnamon cookies, kefir, and meat products from the local combine.
According to her, the store was clean and tidy, customers were served by a polite girl who was assisted by a more experienced employee. There were no expired goods, which the woman had noticed previously, this time.
